Executive Profiles

At Mangrove, we believe employees are the roots that grow a great company. This is as true with our company as it is with yours. We would like to take this opportunity to introduce you to some of the members of the Mangrove executive team.

  • Richard Cangemi – CEO and Co-founder
  • In his ten years at the helm, Rich grew Mangrove from a start-up to a continuously innovative, leading provider of HR, Payroll, and Benefit Administration solutions. Before the first line of code was authored for Mangrove’s breakthrough web-based hosted-delivery HR and Payroll product in 1999, Rich saw the opportunities that the internet would bring to these industries long before “Software as a Service” was a common term. In 2007, to further leverage Mangrove’s state-of-the-art technology assets, Rich expanded Mangrove’s focus on software to a complete employer-services model by acquiring both a benefits administration service company and a payroll and tax outsourcing organization.

  • Paul Zugay – CTO and Co-founder
  • Paul holds a B.S. in Business Management and Management Information Systems from the University of Tampa, and with a comprehensive background in computer technology, systems implementation, and training, Paul is a vital contributor to Mangrove’s success. His ten years of experience in Human Resources consulting with Dunn and Bradstreet, Price Waterhouse, and Centre Consulting provides a firm foundation for Mangrove’s commitment to client service. He also maintains responsibility for Mangrove’s development initiatives.

  • Jim Costello - COO
  • Jim brings a phenomenal background to Mangrove, spanning over 30 years in the Payroll, Human Resources and Benefits outsourcing industries. He has held senior leadership positions in Sales, Operations, and Customer Support for some of the nation’s leading outsourcing companies including Bank of America, ADP, and Genesys Software Systems, and was a founding member and General Manager of Employeematters.com, an Intuit company. Over the last four years, Jim served as President of Payroll Associates, overseeing the largest payroll software licensee base in the country. Mr. Costello is responsible for overall Operations at Mangrove as well as directly managing SBO relations.
  • Bob Mills – CFO
  • Bob brings over eighteen years of significant payroll and financial analysis experience to Mangrove, having most recently served as CFO of WagePoint, Inc., where he was instrumental in developing the overall business model and executing all processes related to financial management. Bob has held various financial leadership positions in the HR/Payroll marketplace with such companies as ADP and Ceridian. Prior to working in the HR/Payroll industry, he spent eleven years as a commercial lender with RBC Financial Group, a world leader in the provision of banking services. Bob holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Sheridan. In addition to his financial responsiblities, the Benefits Administration Operations group reports to Bob.
  • Mike Albrizzi – VP Channel Partner Program
  • Mike possesses extensive channel recruitment, management, and marketing experience. Along with his seventeen years of comprehensive Human Resource and Payroll sales experience, Mike brings his partner-focused philosophy to Mangrove. While at Sage Software, Mike grew the Partner Channel 400% in 1 year, focused on selling and implementing HRMS Solutions, and was a key contributor to the division’s double-digit growth. He later specialized in Human Resource and Payroll systems while working for a national consulting firm.

  • Michel Thiran – Director of Product Development
  • Michel has over seventeen years of experience in Information Technology with a strong focus on software development and management. Combined with a technology and consulting background, Michel applies his in-depth knowledge of Full Development Lifecycle, Project Management, and Application Development to his work at Mangrove. Prior to joining the Mangrove team, Michel spent eight years as a principal consultant for Software Architects, Inc. in roles ranging from Lead Developer, Project Manager, and Interim IT Director. Larger clients included Raymond James Financial Services, E-ONE, Danka, and Microsoft. Michel now oversees and manages new product development efforts and works closely with the rest of Mangrove’s team to ensure continuously innovative, world-class HR, Payroll, and Benefit Administration solutions.
  • Julie Lepine – Director of Operations
  • Julie’s career in Benefits Administration originated at ABR in its COBRA division and continued there after its acquisition by Ceridian. She then went on to serve in several important roles with Mangrove. In the past, Julie supervised Mangrove’s Client Services Department and directed the 2003 Open Enrollment Campaign with great success. In her current role as Director of Operations, she is a leader by example of excellent customer service and impeccable COBRA administration to our Participant Services Department. Julie helps focus Mangrove on providing clients and participants with the highest level of personal service.

  • Joanne Jacob – Human Resource Manager
  • Joanne is an eighteen-year veteran of the HR profession. In Seattle, WA, she was an HR Generalist for a building contractor with 300 union and 75 non-union employees. She served as Administrative Manager for a building contractor in San Diego, CA, where she dealt with the firm’s clients and subcontractors as well as her coworkers, adding customer service skills to her HR expertise. Most recently she served as HR Manager for a Tampa Bay area homebuilder. Ms. Jacob has experience in all aspects of Human Resources Management and is committed to providing prompt professional customer service to internal as well as external clients. Ms. Jacob graduated magna cum laude from National University in San Diego CA with a B.A. in Business Administration and major in Human Resources Management.
